My name is James Crawford. I work in Information Technology at one of the departments at the University of Maryland. I have been using computers since an early age, using early versions of MS-DOS on a TRS-80. I have a lot of Linux and Unix experience, using different forms of Unix throughout the years including FreeBSD, Solaris, Tru64 and IRIX.
Currently for my desktop PC I use a self-built 64-bit Athlon x2 2Ghz system running Linux and Windows XP Pro, and my laptop is a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro running OS X.
The purpose of this website is to provide useful information to people who may be considering trying various software or hardware that I review here. Moreover by writing this site I hope to increase my own knowledge so that I can be more informed in my own professional life about the options out there.
