Introduction
January 26th, 2007 by jamesWelcome to TriedIT.org, a new site where I plan to write about hardware, software, and computer-related services that I have tried.
I should first write a bit about myself. My name is James Crawford and I live in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Computer Science and I currently work in IT at the university.
I have been involved with computers since an early age, with my first computer being a Tandy TRS-80. I have been a Linux user since 1995, and I have used every version of Windows since 3.0. I also have 2 Apple laptops and I have been using Mac OS X since 2002. I enjoy trying out new things and in the course of my job I come across many different kinds of software and hardware. It only seemed natural then to share my experiences online with others who may be interested in using similar products.
My main focus will most likely be Open Source software such as Linux distributions and applications that run on Linux and other OS’s. Since I use a Mac on a daily basis I will also be writing reviews of many Mac programs that I have used.
I hope that this website will not only help people make decisions about using various hardware and software but will greatly increase my knowledge in these areas. I encourage all visitors who have used the things that I have tried to share their experiences with me and others.
Since this site is brand new I expect that the design and layout will change as I get a better feel for how I want this site to look. Please bear with me as I work out the kinks on the way to making this a great site.
Thanks,
James
